There is a wide variety of gluten-free products out there. Different flavors, shapes and brands.  

But which ones are better for you? Which ones are junk? Which ones are really great quality and won’t hurt your stomach?  

You wish you had sort of a directory where you can look up the best products to buy because you are tired of getting sick after eating gluten.  

Or perhaps you would like to have someone trustworthy to give you safe recommendations that won’t hurt your health.  

The truth is that there are a lot of people out there looking for answers, help or at least a guidance in their way to start a gluten-free lifestyle, and there are a lot of other people who have some experience in the topic and are willing to share their “wisdom” and knowledge.  

Matt and I are one of them.  

As you may already know, Matt is celiac, and since he was diagnosed, he started researching and reading a lot about celiac disease.  

Since there is no cure so far for it, we decided to do researches and to try helping other celiacs.  

It has certainly been annoying not knowing all of the good gluten-free brands and trying new alternatives that have caused pain in Matt’s body.  

But he has tried many brands until he found the best ones.  

I’m not celiac but I have been sticking to a gluten-free diet since Matt and I have been living together for the past year.  

So here is the list of our top gluten-free food brands tested by us that you might not know about and that you should start including into your diet.

If you are looking for a delicious, tasty, safe and low-processed food brand, this is definitively the best option.  

I knew this brand through my husband Matt who is celiac, and since the first moment I tried it, I couldn’t stop eating their food products. I am not celiac and I eat Against the Grain’s products every single day, that is how good this brand is.  

Even though they are not certified, this brand has been super safe for Matt whose sensitivity to gluten is really high.  

Not only their products are tasty, but they are made of naturally gluten-free ingredients (despite other food products that have so many processed ingredients).  

They are a celiac-owned family business that makes all of their products in a dedicated gluten-free facility (celiacs know how important this is) with new equipments and use no co-packers.

Against the Grain’s Sesame Bagels:  

Bagels, our daily bread. 

Literally, bagels have become a “must” in our diets. Matt eats them because he needs to eat gluten-free and because they taste amazing. I eat them because I can’t simply get enough, they are too good. 

Surprisingly, these sesame frozen bagels after microwaving them for a couple of seconds, they are spongy, and the flavor is super rich.  

Most frozen breads I have tried, after defrosting them, they get chewy and don’t taste fresh, but Against the Grain’s bagels are very fresh and don’t lose their spongy consistency after being defrosted. 

Against the Grain’s Pepperoni Pizza: 

Our best option for Friday and Saturday nights are Against the Grain’s Pepperoni pizza.  

I’m a pizza fan, and I have tried lots of pizzas everywhere I go, but today I can afirm that my favorite one in the whole world is this one.  

The crust’s taste is AMAZING, and the tomato sauce WOW. I would love to know how to make it because this pizza is one of those recipes that are worth sharing with family and friends for decades. 

I never expected a frozen pizza to taste so good and to be so fresh after cooking it.  

The first time I tried it I had the Three Cheese pizza and I simply loved it. I didn’t think I was going to have a tastier pizza until Matt introduced to my life the Pepperoni flavor.  

We eat one pizza each every weekend. We would eat them more frequently if it wasn’t for that annoying thing called “gaining weight”.  

We used to eat 2 pizzas each per weekend but it became expensive so we decided to reduce the budget.  

Against the Grain has many other good options like the baguettes and rolls that we recommend too, but the sesame bagels and pepperoni pizza are definitely our favorite.  

We our looking forward to try their new Epic Chocolate Fudge Brownie Cake Mix, Epic Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix and Epic Moist Yellow Cake Mix.

We have tested this brand, well, it’s not that we have tested it, Bell & Evans is the brand that we buy all the time when cooking and eating meat.  

They are a family owned business that has been operating since 1894, and besides being innovator in the natural food market, they are the oldest branded chicken company in America.  

They process and package all of their products in their own facility.  

If you are celiac you should know how important is to buy meat that has no preservatives added, water injected, or any other substances that can end up making the meat not safe.  

Well, Bell & Evans’ poultry is natural, gluten-free and safe for celiacs, and their chickens are not fed with any chemicals.  

Not only the meat is safe, but their packaging is different than other poultry products because their high standards provide benefits like:  

- Freezer Safe: It makes your package safe from freezer burn or leaks.

I love cooking and I like making food from scratch. I have never been a big fan of food “mix’ that you just add some ingredients, and then the food is ready. I actually enjoy the process of cooking, making a good combination of ingredients and feel like I actually baked what I’m going to eat.  

When I was living in Caracas my hometown, I always made desserts from scratch, whether they were cakes, cookies, brownies or anything sweet.  

A couple of months ago when Matt and I settled down in NY, he asked me to try Pamela’s products. I gave it a try and I was delighted.  

Pamela’s is a Gluten-Free Certified food brand that offers a full line of baking mixes, cookies and snack bars.  

They never use artificial additives nor high fructose corn syrup in any of their products which makes their products super safe for celiacs.  

I made their Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix, Chocolate Brownie Mix and Vanilla Cake Mix and I was surprised they had such good taste, they were not dry, and the best part, Matt doesn’t feel sick after eating them.  

Everytime we have people coming over to the house, we make Pamela’s mixes for dessert.  

I actually made something different for last Thanksgiving. I bought the Chocolate Brownie Mix and the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix and I made brookies! (brownies + cookies).  

Doing that was simple, I just made a layer of the brownie mix, and on top I added the cookie batter layer. Then I cooked them, and done!  

If you are a dessert fan, then you should give Pamela’s a try!  

Another top recommendation of a safe gluten-free brand is the precooked corn meal Pan, or better known as “Harina Pan”.  

It is the first brand of boiled maize flour in Venezuela. It has been popularized by different cultures around the world, you can find it in more than 25 countries, and nowadays you can buy it at most Latin stores in the US.  

Matt and I use it almost everyday (every week for sure) for making breakfast and/or dinner.  

You won’t believe how good it tastes and you can make easy recipes with this corn flour.  

Our favorite breakfast food is the traditional Venezuelan “arepa”. This is a round dough with a crunchy texture on the outside and a soft dough that you can stuff with anything you want. You can fry them or cook them in the oven.  

You can also try making flatbread, empanadas, tortillas and more.  

You may be familiar with this thought I’m about to share: when celiacs start a gluten-free lifestyle, what they miss eating the most is bread in its different shapes, color, forms and flavors. If you feel identified with that statement, then you are probably missing eating safe gluten-free breadcrumbs. I know you may want to know everything about gluten-free living and that’s why Matt has been trying almost every single gluten-free brand in the market to help celiacs be well informed. For this past Thanksgiving, Matt and I bought Aleia’s Gluten-Free Plain Stuffing for making our turkey stuffing.  

We made 4x the portions of the recipe so we could have plenty leftovers for the next days, and it was amazing how fast we ate this stufing because of their rich flavor and because they were really good on Matt’s stomach.  

He didn’t get sick at all!  

Aleia’s is a company owned and operated by women who use simple and non-artificial ingredients. 

Their products are certified gluten-free and kosher, and now you know that you won’t have to spend another Thanksgiving day eating food that are going to make you feel sick.  

If you are celiac you know how annoying it is looking for good and safe brands for your stomach.  

Spending time at the store researching quickly a brand on your phone and trying to figure out if it’s worth taking the risk of buying it or not, is something you certainly don’t enjoy doing.  

I have said before that Matt is like Nima, he can detect gluten in food.  

Sometimes even companies that claim their products as gluten-free may contain many preservatives and non-artificial flavors added, that it ends up hurting the person’s stomach.  

Jone’s Dairy Farm is one of those brands that use only the finest quality natural ingredients in their products.  

Matt’s favorite is Jone’s Dairy Farm All Natural Golden Brown Mild Pork Breakfast Sausage. They are made of pork, water, salt, spices and sugar, and that gives the sausages a very natural and rich flavor. 

They are very easy to make and will make you wanna eat more.  

For this past Thanksgiving we used All Natural Pork Breakfast Sausage Roll for making our stuffing. The result was amazing. We are definitely using Jone’s Dairy Farm sausage roll again for our next Thanksgiving.
